Ponds and Water Life |

This is a fairly typical coprolite pit, long and thin. It is overgrown so difficult of access and, (like other such ponds) from a distance, it looks more like a hedge than a pond.
The fringing growth is mainly hawthorne and elder, so does not overshadow the pond greatly and the pond is aligned nearly east-west. There is therefore a good growth of marginal vegetation, as the photos show.
The pond has water plantain, alisma plantago-aquatica as well as reeds.
