Cambridgeshire Ponds and Water Life
Oakington

This is a difficult pond to classify: it's by the roadside with what appears to be a public railing separating it fron the road, yet it's effectively in the corner of someone's garden. So it's not clear whether it's a public or a private pond! Its character has changed over the years: in the 1970s I used to collect copious daphnia from it, when it supported a population of ducks. Then, my memory was that it did not appear to belong to the house. When visited on 30th Nov 2002, the pond's character has changed: it's more overgrown, sporting reeds near the road and has no ducks. I didn't dip it.
