Do not get excessively technical - on any subject!
Mostly this will mean no excessive computer-speak. But the same thing could apply to architects, atomic physicists, biochemists, lawyer, doctors etc. As far as your area of expertise is concerned, other list members are all laymen, so don't confuse them with technical jargon.
The rule is - as a list user, if you think the discussion has got to technical, no matter what the subject, pull the poster back down to earth.
