Kilrea First Presbyterian Church Records
Candidates for communion. 1825-1838.
Hugh Walker Rodgers, Minister.
NOTES
- The candidates for communion were listed in the early session records up to 1831 and after that time were listed separately. The lists were generally numbered and a total count kept of new and old communicants.
- The men were listed in one column and the women in another.
- These were mostly young adults-- some married, some from other churches and some being reinstated to privilege.
- The townlands were not always documented. The Reverend H.W. Rodgers often shortened the names of the townlands to abbreviations such as "K:muck" and "D:cannon".
- Most of the townlands mentioned are in the parishes of Kilrea, Tamlaght O'Crilly and Aghadowey.
- The Session Records were often difficult to read and some communicant records may have been inadvertently overlooked. Where a name or word is difficult to read this has been indicated by (?) after it.
